1. The study app allows recording of side effects when taking iron supplements. All interested users can use the app in the offline mode. Usage in online mode requires users to be recruited as participants in the CAPS iron supplementation study, conducted by the Human Nutrition Laboratory of ETH Zürich. The study (CAPS-CH) is registered on clinicaltrials.gov  and has been reviewed and approved by the ethical committee of the canton Zürich, Switzerland (KEK, BASEC Nr.: 2021-00773). This study is funded by the Swiss Foundation for Nutrition Research (SFEFS) and by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

2.The investigators are liable to treat the entire information related to the study and the compiled data strictly. All assessed personal data will be analysed in encrypted form and only used for scientific purpose and not for any commercial aim. Any passing-on of information to persons that are not directly involved in the studies must be approved by the owner of the information. Data generation, transmission, archiving and analysis of personal data within the study, strictly follows Swiss legal requirements according to the federal law on data security, as well as the regulation on professional secrecy in clinical research and guidelines for good clinical practice (GCP: ICH E6 (R2)). Prerequisite is the voluntary approval of the participant given by signing the informed consent prior start of participation of the study. Individual participant medical information obtained as a result of the study is considered confidential and disclosure to third parties is prohibited. Participant confidentiality will be further ensured by utilizing participant identification code numbers to correspond to treatment data in the computer files.

 3. Participants can withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason for it. The data and samples collected up to that point will still be evaluated in encrypted form. After the evaluation, data and samples of withdrawn participants will be completely anonymized, i.e. their key assignment will be destroyed so that afterwards no one can find out that the data and samples originally came from them.

 3. Data collected by the app, will only be accessed by the study team of the CAPS study. Data is appropriately secured via encryption and password-protection. The data from the app will be stored in a on a virtual server (Firebase). Further, this data will be stored with a VP-code. This allows them to ask for deletion of the data and can only be deleted with this VP-code. The cloud database with data from the app will be closed when the study is completed and this data will be stored locally with the remaining data from the CAPS study.

 4. After statistical analysis of the study, the principal investigator will make every endeavour to publish the data in a scientific journal in a reasonable time. Results will be presented at both local and international conferences and submitted for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals for the benefit of the scientific and health community.
